column inches... jimmegee

Turn on, tune in, cop out. Well you'll definitely get the first two with Jimmegee. As for the copping out bit you may be waiting a long time – as Jimmegee explores the dancefloor and the lives that rotate around it. Old enough to have those 80's originals and yet young enough to appreciate the 21st Century twist those same sounds now take, let Jimmygee take you on a trip. Electronically flavoured of course.
Feeling Pride
Wednesday, 15 July 2009
Well, Pride season is well and truly upon us again, marking the halfway point of the calendar year but also its highlight for many of us. I remember gushing on my blog and to friends and colleagues about my first Brighton Pride several years ago and I’m yet again wet-Y-fronted with excitement about this year’s.
Everyone’s Pride experience is different, isn’t it? And that’s what makes Pride such an all-encompassing celebration of everything that’s good in our big, gay world. I for one don’t understand the attraction of Pride London. Standing in big, ugly old Trafalgar Square for ages then repairing to the same bars and clubs you can go to at any other time of the year but with twice as many people at twice the entrance fee. But I know many people who get just as moist around the crotch about that city’s celebrations, and good on ‘em, because it’s not just about what you do, it’s who you do it with.
Similarly, I met a Brighton-based ex-colleague the other day who swore blind that her experience of the park is getting worse every year - so she and her wife are just going to do the village street party. Fair dinkums (although I have no idea what she’s on about).
No matter how far-flung our friends and loved ones are during the year, you can always guarantee that they’ll want to be with you at Pride. This year, we’ve got family staying with us and I just know that they’ll adore the fun and the colour and the partying and the noise and I’m proud they want to share in our day.
It truly is Gay Christmas, so wherever you are for your Pride, whichever town or city and wherever in the world it is, enjoy it, be safe, be happy and most importantly, be proud.
